Our time in Wildpoldsried, Germany has opened my eyes to what is possible when citizens get involved in their energy systems. They have become an international example as a guide to local energy independence. Their system of residential solar, communal wind farm, and commercial dairy biodigesters provides a 3 tier system of local energy generation.
